What travellers ask
When is the best time to do The Islands journey?
February through June, the Gulf of Thailand's driest, calmest stretch — the four islands on this route (Koh Samui, Ang Thong, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan) all sit on the Gulf side, which runs on the opposite seasonal rhythm to the Andaman coast: the Gulf's wet season falls October to December, not the Andaman's usual May–October monsoon.
Is this journey private or a group tour?
Entirely private — there are no group tours on this itinerary. The day boat charter, the diving expeditions, and every villa stay are yours alone, with no other travellers folded into the programme at any point across the four islands.
How much can the itinerary be changed?
The four-island framework — Koh Samui, Ang Thong, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan — is a starting point, not a fixed route. Your SALA curator rebuilds nights per island, hotel choice, and the balance of diving, snorkelling, and rest around your dates and pace before anything is confirmed.
Which coast should I choose in February — the Gulf or the Andaman?
February sits inside the dry season for both coasts, but the Gulf (this journey's islands) is at its calmest from February onward, while the Andaman is already well into its own November–April dry window. Either works in February; the Gulf runs driest a little longer, into June.
