The Retreat
Half the value is the room, half is what happens outside it
A leadership offsite needs a genuine meeting space, not a lawn with a flip chart — fixed AV, connectivity that holds, and enough quiet that the group can actually hear each other. The afternoons carry equal weight: a shared activity, a slow dinner without phones on the table, something that builds trust between people rather than fills a schedule. Set in the Mae Rim hills outside Chiang Mai, for the cooler air and the genuine quiet.

Day by Day
Your Private Retreat
Five nights in one place — your SALA curator can extend the stay, or adjust which afternoon activity runs which day.

Day 1
Arrival & Welcome
Chiang Mai
The group arrives, settles in, and starts the retreat together rather than separately.
- Private airport transfers, staggered by flight, each guest met individually
- Check-in at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, set among working rice paddies in the Mae Rim Valley
- Group briefing over an informal welcome dinner — the day starts as one group, whatever time everyone landed

Day 2–3
The Working Days
Mae Rim Valley
Mornings held for the reason the group travelled; afternoons built around a shared activity rather than a schedule filled for its own sake.
- A genuine private meeting space each morning — fixed AV, connectivity that holds, seating for the whole group
- Afternoon one: an ethical elephant encounter — observing and, where the elephants allow it, walking alongside them at a distance they set, no riding
- Afternoon two: a private Lanna cooking class, the group working in small teams rather than watching a demonstration
- Unhurried dinners, phones off the table, no agenda beyond the conversation

Day 4
A Day Held Open
Mae Rim Valley
One day with nothing scheduled by default — individual wellness time for whoever wants it, genuinely free time for whoever does not.
- Optional Tok Sen therapy — a traditional Lanna wooden-mallet treatment, or a herbal-compress workshop for those who would rather make than receive
- The rest of the day left open — the resort grounds, the valley, or simply rest

Day 5
Closing Session & Dinner
Chiang Mai
A short close to the working part of the retreat, then an evening built to mark the week rather than end it.
- A closing session in the same private meeting space — decisions made, commitments named out loud
- A closing dinner, hosted, no agenda beyond marking the week

Questions
What travellers ask
When is the best time to run a company retreat in Chiang Mai?
November through February, the cool season — noticeably lower humidity and cooler evenings than the rest of the country, which matters for a group spending real time outdoors and in the meeting space rather than moving between air-conditioned stops.
Is this run alongside other guests, or entirely private?
Entirely private — the meeting space, the activities and the dining are booked and run for your own group only, never shared with other hotel guests or folded into anyone else’s programme.
What group size does this work for?
Eight to twenty-five people — a boardroom, not a conference. Below eight, a bespoke leisure itinerary usually serves the group better; above twenty-five, speak to your SALA curator about scaling the meeting space and activities accordingly.
How much of this can be changed?
The five-night, single-region structure is a starting framework, not a fixed template — your SALA curator can adjust which afternoon activity runs which day, extend the stay, or swap in a different wellness element before anything is confirmed.
Do you handle dietary requirements and accessibility needs?
Yes — every guest is surveyed individually before the retreat (allergies, halal, kosher, vegetarian, mobility needs, prayer timings), and that list travels with the group throughout, not just with the kitchen on day one.
